Odisha Celebrates Hanuman Jayanti: A Peaceful Festivity Amidst Tight Security

Bhubaneswar: The celebration of Hanuman Jayanti in Odisha saw participation from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and various state officials on Monday, with events taking place peacefully throughout the state.

Dressed in a headpiece that read “Jai Sriram,” Majhi took part in the Hanuman Jayanti procession in his hometown of Keonjhar, while Union Education Minister Pradhan, donned in saffron, celebrated in Sambalpur, his parliamentary constituency.

Majhi shared with reporters, "After offering prayers at Maa Tarini Temple, I joined the procession starting from Mahavir Chhak. I participate every year, and I am grateful for the chance to celebrate again this time. The atmosphere is peaceful."

In Sambalpur, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, along with veteran BJP MLA Jay Narayan Mishra and other leaders, performed an 'Aarti' before Lord Hanuman before commencing the processions.

To ensure safety, Sambalpur was heavily secured with over 50 platoons of police and Central Armed Forces personnel deployed throughout the town.

Last year, the city experienced unrest during Hanuman Jayanti, leading to the denial of procession permits for this year.

Pradhan expressed on X, "I celebrated Hanuman Jayanti in a spiritual environment at Budharja, Dhankeewda, and Sunapali in Sambalpur. Lord Shri Hanuman embodies devotion, sacrifice, and perseverance. The citizens are filled with enthusiasm for this festival. I pray for the world's well-being. Jai Sriram, Jai Bajrangbali."

Pradhan reiterated that the celebrations were conducted without any incidents.

According to Additional DG (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar, the Hanuman Jayanti festivities were safeguarded by stringent security measures across the state, with no reports of disturbances.

Kumar noted that approximately 200 platoons of security forces and 10 companies of central armed forces were deployed to ensure peace during the festival, with special arrangements made in key areas such as Sambalpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack.

Additionally, 40 AI-enabled drones and 600 CCTV cameras were installed in major towns and cities to enhance surveillance.

Police officers in civilian attire were also present, along with mobile units for discreet monitoring.

Each district was equipped with a modern control room to coordinate activities and respond quickly to any emergencies.
